Scouts

The Scouts Section is called a troop and provides scouting for young people between the ages of 10.5 and 14, we have a vibrant troop of boys and girls who are welcoming and friendly.

We meet on a Thursday evening during term-time from 7:00-9:00pm at our scouting HQ on Bailey Close, E4 9GH (top of Normanshire Drive) Most nights we can be found at our HQ, but sometimes we will be out and about exploring the local community.

For Scouts, the aim is to build confident young people who can express their beliefs and attitudes in a safe and fun environment. Free expression, enjoyment and adventures are key. Scouts are introduced to advanced outdoor skills, adventurous activities and encouraged to take the lead on lots of areas of their scouting journey.

Their dynamic programme of activities is mostly youth produced during discussion forums. Team leading, activity and camp planning, knowledge, and badgework are all part of the fun.

Who are Scouts?

Scouts are a go-getting group of young people aged 10 ½ to 14 who:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Make new friends
  • Have fun and go on adventures, at home and abroad
  • Explore the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond

Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Scout Troops to conquer the small task of changing the world.

Uniform

Scouts wear core uniform of a green shirt and a group necker.

Uniform can either be bought from Scout Shops Ltd or a local supplier. You can ask your Troop leader for more information on what and where to buy.

We don’t want anyone to miss out through financial hardship. If concerns about finances may prevent your child taking part in Scouting or some activities, speak to your Troop leader, as some assistance may be available in confidence.

Here’s where to sew on those badges…
